Citizen’s for San Luis Valley Water Protection Coalition

Citizens for San Luis Valley Water Protection Coalition

The Citizen’s for San Luis Valley Water came together in the late 1980’s to defeat corporate attempts to export SLV water. Decades of local leadership galvanized successful passage of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve Act of 2000. Over the years they sponsored other valley-wide organizations that work to protect the environment. Citizens for San Luis Valley Water has resurfaced, as the Protection Coalition, to protect the Closed Basin aquifer and other vital ecological and cultural resources of the San Luis Valley, from destructive oil and gas industrialization as we enter the post-carbon age.

Decades of local leadership galvanized successful passage of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve Act of 2000.
